The Bus From Ha Tien To Kep, Kampot,Sihanouk Vill, Phnom Penh, Siem Riep And Thai Lan

It's possible now to catch a bus from Ha Tien directly to Kep, Kampot,Sihanoukville or Phnom Penh.You don't have to get off the bus(except for passport/visa reasons), your luggage can stay on the bus and the same bus goes all the way Previously you had to change vehicles and either carry or pay a moto driver to take your luggage the kilometre or so between vehicles in the No mans land.It's a lot easier now.The ten or so kilometres from the border into Cambodia is still like a farm track in places,but it's being worked on now,and should be sealed soon.They are also working on the possibility of starting a direct bus service the other way(i.e from Sihanoukville to Ha Tien) I'll keep this thread updated as things progress

I can now say from first hand knowledge that there is now a direct bus service from Ha Tien to Sihanoukville (via Kampot and Kep) and a return one as well.The trip takes about 4 hours from Ha Tien to Sihanoukville,of which about 1 hour is spent at the border(maybe less if there aren't many passengers),Ha Tien to Kep is about two hours(inc border) Kep to Kampot 45 minutes and Kampot to Sihanoukville 1 and 1/2 hours.The bus I used was operated by Virak Buntham and costs 20USD each way.The border crossing was smooth and uneventful,except for the 1 USD "health certificate" which is pointless but it's not worth arguing over 1 dollar, although 2 guys told the immigration they didn't have any money and eventually he let them go without paying.Bus tickets are widely available from agents or the bus station
